Dharamsala, Dec. 11 – 17th Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorjee arrived in Bodhgaya to participate in month-long religious ceremonies, IANS cited his aides as saying.
“The 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorjee, reached Bodh Gaya’s Tergar Monastery last evening (Wednesday). He will deliver discourses and participate in ceremonies there,” Gonpo Tsering, a secretary to the head of Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, was quoted as saying.
The Tibetan religious leader, who arrived in India on January 5 2000 after fleeing Tibet, will preside over the upcoming 12th Annual Karmae Gunchoe (Winter Debate and Logical studies session) to be held at Tergar Monastery. He will take part in the 26th Kagyu Monlam Chenmo prayers for world peace in Bodhgaya from January 4 to 11. A two day teaching for public from January 12 is also in the schedule.
