Zurich, December: On the occasion of International Human Rights Day, the Tibetan Youth Association of Europe drew attention to the ongoing human rights abuses in Tibet with a highly unusual action.

By making a tram look like a prison, Zurich residents could experience
themselves how Tibetans in Tibet are arbitrarily detained.

Going to prison instead of going to work? In Tibet arbitrary detentions are an everyday occurrence.

With prison bars on the windows, banners, posters and flyers distributed throughout the tram conveyed the sense of what the present situation in Tibet is.

The wordings on the banners and posters drew a direct parallel between the daily routine of the tram passengers with that of the Tibetans in Tibet, “going to prison instead of going to work, going to prison instead of going to football training, going to prison instead of going to school?” These simple and hard-hitting lines made a deep impact on passengers.
