Dharamshala November 3 – China on Sunday dismissed as “groundless” reports that it had helped insurgents in north-east India.

“Such reports were groundless,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Jiang Yu said in a statement.

Jiang asserted that Beijing will not support any “anti-government” groups in the neighbouring nation.

“The Chinese government always sticks to the principle of non-interference in other nations’ domestic affairs. We won’t support any anti-government groups in India,” Jiang was quoted by the official Xinhua news agency as saying.

An English daily in India and Jane’s Intelligence Review recently reported that China had supplied weapons to anti-government groups in India’s northeast, Xinhua noted.
