October 20 – 22 Post Graduate students from AJK Mass Communication Research Centre of Jamia Millia Islamia University along with 2 technical staffs, a lecturer and a Professor successfully completed their media tour to Dharamsala from 14-18 October 2008. This ‘Media Students Program’ was organized with the Jamia Millia Islamia University for the first time by India-Tibet Coordination Office, based in New Delhi.
The students undertaking Master in broadcast, online and Photo Journalism visited Dharamsala for three days to know the first hand information about Tibetan issues. Three briefings on Tibet were earlier presented by Kalon Tempa Tsering, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Mr. Vijay Kranti, journalist and a long time Tibet supporter and Mr. Tenzin Lekshay, Coordinator of India-Tibet Coordination Office at the university.
In Dharamsala, students comprising of TV, Radio and Photo Journalism took specific topic for their project and had extensively interviewed many CTA officials, school administrations, TIPA artists, monks and common people on various issues like education, cultures and Tibetan freedom struggle.
Mr. Moonis, a student complimented after the tour that ‘I along with everyone had a great learning experience’. Some of the students’ project in Dharamsala plan to show in the National TV and also in the University for the general students.
This ‘Media Students Program’ organized by India-Tibet Coordination Office aims to create awareness about Tibetan issues to the Indian media students who are joining the mainstream media.
