New Delhi, 10 October – Opposition leader of the Lok Sabha (Indian Parliament’s Lower House) and former deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani today released three books published by the India First Foundation at his residence here. One of them is Tibet: From Tranquility to Turmoil co-authored by Sudhakar Raje, Thupten Samphel and Vijay Kranti. Chandan Mitra, editor of The Pioneer was Chief Guest for the occasion.
The book contains three aspects of Tibet namely its past and links with India, today’s Tibet which is under Chinese occupation as a colony, and Tibet in exile, said Vijay Kranti.
Though Vijay pointed out the blunders India’s first Prime Minister Nehru made regarding Tibet he also pointed out the hospitality provided by Nehru and the Indian government for the survival of Tibetan national identity and cultural heritage. “India has now become the reservoir of Tibetan culture in entire world”, he said.
Thupten Samphel, Information Secretary of the exile Tibetan government’s Department of Information and International Relations, said he has tried to explain through his book not only the present political crisis in Tibet but also the immense gratitude the Tibetan people feel towards India for its generosity.
Also present at the gathering were Vijai Sharma, former. Lt. Governor of Delhi, and other distinguished guests.
