Himachal Environmental Society and School Children Celebrate His Holiness’ Birthday

Dharamsala, July 7 – The Himachal Environment and Landscape Protection Society (HELPS) in collaboration with the Tibetan Welfare Office celebrated the 73rd birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama by hosting a flower show and painting competition at Tsuglakhang, the main temple of His Holiness.

The program was presided over by Professor Samdhong Rinpoche, the honorable Prime Minister of the Tibetan Government-in-exile. The Prime Minister was received by Colonel R.C. Dewan, the President of HELPS.

Students from five surrounding schools participated in the painting competition which had the theme of “Environmental Protection.” Monetary prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners.

At the end of the flower competition, Colonel K.B. Thapa and Shri Kishori Lal presented the Prime Minister with the Best Flower of the Show as a sign of respect and good will.
