The three Tibet activists denied entry in to Hong Kong on Tuesday 29 April have refused to be silenced by the Hong Kong government. The activists, who were due to stage a press conference at 2pm local time on Thursday May 1 in Hong Kong, will now deliver the press conference via a live webcast. The live webcast will go ahead at 2pm Hong Kong time today (May 1).

Speaking on the live webcast will be the three activists denied entry to Hong Kong on Tuesday: Tsering Lama, speaking from Toronto, Kate Woznow from New York City and Matt Whitticase from London. They will be joined by Lhadon Tethong from New York City who had also intended to fly to Hong Kong for the press conference before the three Tibet activists were denied entry.

The live webcast press conference takes place at 2pm Hong Kong time, 7am London time and 2am in New York today and can be accessed via: http://blog.studentsforafreetibet.org/live.

The activists will address the key issues they had planned to raise in their planned press conference in Hong Kong: mounting fears in Tibet now at the projected impact of the Olympic Torch passing through Tibet (using fresh first hand eyewitness accounts sourced from inside Tibet); announcement of a new campaign targeted at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Torch Relay sponsors; the impact on Tibet of China’s broken Olympic promises and the IOC’s failure to hold China to its pledges regarding free reporting for foreign media; the activists’ reaction to the suppression of their right to speak out in Kong Kong on the eve of the Olympic Torch relay there.
