Indian Free Tibet activist, Dr. Mahesh Yadav, is on a nation-wide campaign calling for the boycott of the 2008 Olympic Games in China and sending letters appealing Indian President and PM to honour His Holiness the Dalai Lama with Bharat Ratna.
Hubli (Karnataka), January 17: An Indian Free Tibet activist and Convener of Mahatma Gandhi Tibet Freedom Movement, Dr.Mahesh Yadav is on a nation-wide campaign appealing the world community leaders and Olympic players to boycott 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, which will begin in China on 8th August, 2008.
Dr Yadav started the nation-wide “Jai-Bharat, Jai Tibet Yatra” campaign from Bhopal on December 9, 2007 (on the eve of the International Human Rights Day) calling for the boycott of the 2008 Olympics in China by spreading awareness on Tibet’s freedom and World-peace among Indian masses.
Dr Yadav says his yatra will cover 49 destinations across India staging programmes and seminars to generate Indian people’s support for the cause of Tibet.
So far he has successfully organized Tibet awareness programmes in major Indian cities like Bhopal, Sagur, Jabalpur, Katni, Raipur, Bilaspur, Raurkela, Cuttak, Bhubaneswa, Berhampur, vishakhapattnam, Herdrabad Tata Nagar, Ranchi, Hajaribag, Boudh-Gaya, Patna, Kolkaata Hubli and Mungud.
In doing so, the ardent Tibet activist has been sending letters, written in his own blood and accompanied by blood portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, to Indian president Smt. Pratibha Patil and PM Dr. Manmohan Singh appealing them to honour “A True Gandhian His Holiness the Dalai Lama” with Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.
Dr.Mahesh Yadav believes “Olympics stands as a symbol of World Peace, harmony and Brotherhood, but China is a Country where Democracy and freedom do not exist.”
“Therefore China does not deserve to host Olympic Games because it is a Dictator, Killer of Tibetans, Killer of Freedom, Killer of Democracy, and Kidnapper of Panchan Lama, killer of International Law, Killer of Human Rights, Killer of Environment, Killer of World Peace, Killer of Humanity and Killer of Indian Faith,” he adds.
“While most countries in the world have successfully enacted laws to curb child labour and bonded labour, China continues to forcibly practice child labours, bonded labours forcing prisoners to work in construction sites like stadium for the forthcoming Olympics games by brutally exploiting them” Dr Yadav further alleges.
