Kathmandu – Within a fortnight of a senior Chinese official visiting Nepal, a second one is arriving in Kathmandu to attend a forum on Tibet that will reinforce Beijing’s policy of emphasizing that the annexed Buddhist kingdom is an inalienable part of the republic of China.
Zhang Zhijun, vice minister of the international department of the central committee of the Communist Party of China will be arriving in the Nepali capital on December 18 to attend a two-day Tibet Forum. Zhang’s visit follows the delegation led on December 30 by Wang Jiarui, head of the same department, who met Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, Maoist chief Prachanda and other senior politicians.
Currently, a group of Chinese journalists from the Wenhui Xinmin United Press Group is touring Nepal while a photo exhibition is being held on Tibet, highlighting that it is an autonomous province of China.
Officials of Nepal’s state media said on Friday that they were guided by the “One China policy” and “had always countered slandering views that sought to undermine China’s territorial integrity”.
Also waiting in the wings is Zheng Xinmiao, vice-minister at the Chinese cultural ministry, who has indicated his desire to visit Nepal in March.
