The City of Thunder Bay has decided to honour a request from MP Ken Boshcoff, and will fly the Tibetan flag.
The city says it will join St. John’s, Newfoundland and Blainville, Quebec in flying the Tibetan flag during Dalai Lama’s visit to Canada next week.
Boshcoff made the request in his role as a member of the Canada-Tibet Parliamentary Committee. The Tibetan flag was banned when China invaded the country in 1950 but Boshcoff says flying the flag offers encouragement and inspiration to Tibetans and those who support them. The Dalai Lama will be in Canada from Sunday through to next Wednesday.
