There are many Buddhist traditions and in the Tibetan belief the Dalai Lama is the spiritual head with the State Oracle of Tibet advising the Dalai Lama on matters of significance.
The Oracle, Thupten Ngodup, is scheduled to be in Mount Shasta Aug. 4 and 5, with a public session Aug. 5 at 9 a.m. at 1520 South Shasta Acres Road off of McCloud Ave.
According to Denali Jordan, Ngodup will not be performing his role as the Oracle, which entails acting as a medium for a spirit in a trance-like state, but will offer a blessing on Mount Shasta and speak on “Healing Mother Earth.”
According to the Tibetan government in exile the Oracle is “responsible for the protection and healing of the Tibetans, the Earth and all sentient beings.”
“The Oracle is coming from the Himalayas to the United States to offer insights and direction regarding global warming and individual responsibility,” the government says. “From the rooftop of the world, the Oracle will offer solutions on the biggest crises of our times.”
Tibetan tradition says the Oracle can be traced back to 1544 AD when the spirit possessed a human being for the first time.
