12 killed, 14 injured in a road accident in Tibet

BEIJING: July 13: A tourist bus plunged into a river in Tibet on Friday, killing 12 people and injuring 14, state media reported. One person was missing.

The cause of the accident, which occurred about 90 kilometers (56 miles) west of the regional capital Lhasa, was under investigation.

Bodies of the 12 victims- ten women and two men, including the driver- have been recovered. Their identities were not known. Authorities were still searching for the missing passenger.

The 35-seat bus, which belongs to a local tour company, was submerged in the Yarlung Zangbo River. It had been traveling from Lhasa to the western city of Xigaze.
