Clement Town, June 28: As the GCMGC 2007 moved into the second day of its football tournament, the match venue had to be shifted from Tibetan Nehru Memorial Foundation School to Mindroling Gonpa football ground due to bad ground condition because of the incessant heavy downpour on the opening day of the tournament yesterday.
In today’s two matches, TashiLing Potala SC, Pokhara played against Bylakuppe FC and Delhi United played against Tashi Jong FC in the second game.
In the first match, first powerful attempt by Bylakuppe FC narrowly missed the target. The ball hit the upper pole just inches away from the net. The skillful team from Nepal displayed their dominance in ground passes and attempted several shots but, Bylakuppe FC’s aggressive defence gave no room for any goal score. The first half ended with no goal from both the teams.
As the match resumed its second half, desperate attempts to score by both sides proved futile until the middle of the second half. In the middle of the second half a foul committed by a Bylakuppe FC player won Tashi Ling FC a free-kick. The free-kick was flawlessly taken and the ball zoomed right into the net. Bylakuppe’s relentless effort to equalise the game till the last minute stood no chance leaving Pokhara winning by the single goal of the match.
Delhi United against Tashi Jong FC in the second match saw more goals landing in the net. DU’s repeated attack sent a spell of pressure to Tashi Jong players.
DU’s made its first attempt minutes after the kick-off, but could not convert it. Moments later Delhi United was awarded a corner kick and a hat-trick from a DU player sent the ball straight to defeat the defending goal keeper. Seconds before the half-time, the heedlessness of the Tashi Jong’s goalie cost his team dearly. The moderate-powered ball from DU’s No. 10 striker sent the ball reeling between the legs of Tashi Jong FC goalie.
With confidence on its side, Delhi United scored their third goal of the match as the second half resumed. With their last-minute hunting Tashi Jong managed to score a lone goal. But just before the final whistle, Delhi United sent in their fourth and the final goal of the match ending the game 4- 1.
The final results: TashiLing Potala FC (Pokhara): 1 and Bylakuppe FC: 0; Delhi FC: 4 and Tashi Jong FC: 1
