New Delhi: Former Miss Tibet, Tenzin Nyima who won the Tibetan beauty crown in 2005 died Monday morning around 10:00 reportedly after a battle with meningitis in VINHANS Hospital in Delhi. Her father, Mr Gonpo said she was 24.
She was the only contender when she won the title in 2005. The organisers of the beauty pageant had described her as “lone brave” contender.
At the time of her death, she was working as a customer Care Executive at HCL, an IT company in Delhi.
According to Miss Tibet website, Tenzin Nyima was born in 1983 in Bylakuppe and attended Tibetan Homes School in Mussoorie for her schooling.
She was doing final year BA English Honours degree in Delhi when she participated in the Miss Tibet beauty pageant that year. Playing basket and dancing to Hindi dance numbers were her expressed hobbies.
“Through her beauty title, she always wished to work for the cause of Tibet and I know it proved difficult for her to die at such an early age,” says Mr Gonpo. “I want to ask everyone to pray for her soul,” Mr Gonpo earnestly appeals.
