New Delhi, May 12 – The Rajasthan chapter of the India Tibet Friendship Society (ITFS) under the leadership of Shri Amar Kishan Vyas, an Indian freedom fighter and Convener of India Tibet Friendship Society, Rajasthan, organised a two days’ meeting of its members at Moji Baba ka Gufa, Kota, Rajasthan.

ITFS members from all parts of Rajasthan representing Women, Youth and Ex-Army participated in the meeting.

Mr. Karma Monlam representing the Central Tibetan Administration was the chief guest and Shri Raghuvir Singh Kaushal, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) was among the special invitees. Other dignitaries present at the meeting were Shri Surender Kumar, General Secretary of Gandhi Peace Foundation, Shri Adhyana Chaturvedi and Prof. Shyam Nath Mishra.

Mr. Karma Monlam spoke about the need and importance of Tibet awareness programmes. He emphasized the need to “reach out to the Indian students especially at school levels as they are the future of this country”.

While welcoming the participants, Shri Raghuvir Singh Kaushal expressed deep concern over the Sino India border dispute. “If only India had raised its voice during Tibet’s occupation by China, there wouldn’t have been a border problem in the first place,” he said. He also highlighted an alarming fact that one doesn’t need a visa or a permit to enter China if one goes through Arunachal Pradesh. This, he said, is a matter of grave concern that needs immediate attention.

Mr Tenzin Dawa representing India Tibet Coordination Office briefed about the International Tibet Support Group Meeting held at Brussels and requested members to give special emphasis in the four areas regarding the issues of Tibet to be discussed at the International Tibet Support Group meeting which are Political support for negotiations, human rights, environment and development and the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing. He also requested the members to participate in the Human Chain Rally for Tibet in Delhi which is to be held at the year end.
