RTWA of Minnesota marks 12th March at State Capitol

Day started with beautiful sunshine outside eventhough there were snow all over. Very colorful Tibetan national Flag along the TWA Flag and slogan banners hold by Tibetans with traditional dress at the Minnesota State Capitol for the first time gathered to commemorate the Tibetan women’s uprising day.

Program started with welcome speech to all the Tibetans and supporters by Kalsang Wangdu, General Secretary, TWA, Minnesota. It was later followed by Tibetan National anthem, Mimang langlu, a minute silence for the martyrs of Tibet and finally the world peace prayers by Gyuto monks.

Tenzin Choedon, PRO for RTWA read the statement to mark the 48th anniversary of Tibetan women’s uprising day in English. Kunsang Chonyi Lhewa, vice president of Regional Tibetan women’s association of Minnesota read the statement in Tibetan.

Samten Choedon, Secetary of Tibetan American Foundation (TAFM) and Pempa Kura, president of Regional Tibetan youth congress of Minnesota also expressed the importance of this day.

Mary Ann Lundquist a good old friend and supporter of Tibetans and Bonnie Watkins (Executive director of Minnesota Women’s consortium) were the guest and main speakers for the day.

The program concluded with thank you speech from vice president, RTWA, Kunsang Chonyi Lhewa who requested the people of world to continue their support for a free Tibet.

Earlier on 10th March Kunsang Chonyi Lhewa, Vice president of RTWA gave speech at the gathering. All the events on that day were jointly organized by TAFM, RTYC and RTWA.
