Tibetan activists from Tibetan Youth Association Europe demonstrated their solidarity in a very unusual way: The Chinese embassy in Berne presented itself in the look of the National Tibetan flag.
With the spectacular and unusual camouflage of the Chinese embassy, the Tibetan activists pointed out the 48th anniversary of the Tibetan national uprising on March 10. Every year on that day, Tibetans remind people around the world of the violent and illegitimate occupation of their homeland 48 years ago. Since then, over 1.2 million Tibetans have suffered death due to torture, hunger and terror.
Tibetan-flags flying at city and town halls:
Around one hundred towns and cities in Switzerland declared their solidarity with Tibet and this caused some distress among a few people in Zurich. The “flag-activity” showed the support of the peaceful efforts of the Tibetan people for freedom and self-determination.
