March by Tibetans in and around Palampur

Tibetans around Bir, Suja, Chauntra, Tashi Jong, Chauntra, Gopalpur and Joginger Nagar, Sherabling including the school children etc. braved the torrential rain to show that the spirit of freedom struggle has not died out. This 48th National Uprising began with the opening function in the respective places. After the actual function in the respective places, all the Tibetans gathered in Chautra market and had a rally in Joginder Nagar, a town 17 km from Chauntra. After a round there, the tibetans moved to Palampur from where they are joined by other Tibetans including the students of TCV Gopalpur and a long march was carried in the street of Palampur in the presence of this unprecedented down pour. But despite that down pour more than hundred Tibetans rallied in the Palampur town. A brief function was held near the District Magistrate Office.

The Function began with the singing of Tibetan national anthem and Indian National anthem. This was followed by the recitatiion of 48th Uprising speech of His Holiness in Hindi by Hindi teacher of TCV school, Suja. And finally, the brief function ended with a chanting of prayer” Dentsek Monlam”. And the 48th National Uprising by the Tibetans in and around Palampur came to an end with the rain pouring unceasingly.
