March 6th, Dharamsala: Kalsang Phuntsok Godrukpa, President of the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) on a press-release earlier this morning, informed the media about a number of crucial events that took place recently and are still to manifest as the countdown begins for the 48th National Uprising Day of Tibet (March 10th, 2007).

Aside from supporting and participating with other NGOs, the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress plans to hold between thirty to forty demonstrations exclusively organized and staffed by TYC. Tibetan all across the world are gearing up as the historic day approaches, mainly in San Francisco, Toronto and New York. In India, the largest demonstration is to take effect in New Delhi, where activists are being recruited from Dharamsala and other regions of India. Some of these gatherings are weeklong activities to educate the international community on the truth of Chinese oppression and bring effective change to the continuous unjust violation of basic human rights. He invites Tibetans and friends of Tibet from across the globe to come together on 10th of March, so the voice is heard stronger by the Chinese Authorities.

Kalsang Phuntsok also urgently seeks a dialogue to happen between TYC and Chinese authorities regarding the fourteen missing Tibetans following the unexpected Police attack on innocent civilians in Lhasa earlier last week. Silence on this matter cannot be tolerated and a dialogue regarding the truth to this event is demanded urgently.

A candlelight vigil is to be held in Mcleod Ganj at 6pm on the eve of 6th March, starting from the main square in honor of the unknown whereabouts of the fourteen Tibetans.
