“Free Tibet Action Week” innitiated by Toronto Tibetan Youth Congress has bought forth a significant role in letting the world know about Tibet and that Tibetans are still struggling to regain freedom from the Communist Chinese regime.

Despite the freezing temperature and the blowing snow, the participants of the “Free Tibet Action Week” continued to be brave and strong. They didn’t fall apart. They never gave up. This is the proof of how dedicated and determined these people are. Toronto TYC thanks them for their enthusiasm and vigorous effort in making the action week a success. There was a moment during the day that the shelter given under the canopies had to be removed due to the strong wind which created another problem for the participants. They had to fight with the chilly wind and the snow storm without any shelter above them. The freezing weather reached up to the wind chill of -20 Degree Celsius.

However, there was a sense of accomplishment when the Member of Provincial Parliament Cheri DiNovo addressed the gathering about the resolution that she is going to submit during the House of Assembly’s session commencing on March 19th 2007. We were grateful to learn that she had taken our request into consideration. The resolution read “the Ontario Government should support the Federal motion to urge the government of the People’s Republic of China and representatives of Tibet’s government in exile, notwithstanding their differences on Tibet’s historical relationship with China, to continue their dialogue in a forward looking manner that will lead to pragmatic solutions that respect the Chinese constitutional framework, the territorial integrity of China and fulfill the aspirations of the Tibetan people for a unified and genuinely autonomous Tibet.”

The day went by with prayers by every body and the number of the participants went up to eleven volunteers along with the seven organizing committee members. Few Tibetans also came to show their moral support by bringing hot Tibetan tea and soup.

The committee Chairman, Mr. Phurbu Tsering la expressed his gratitude on behalf of Toronto Tibetan Youth Congress to all the Tibetans who had come in front of the Legislative building to protest against China’s illegal occupation of Tibet and hoped for their continuous support and presence till the last day of the “Free Tibet
