Jammu, January 19 – The Centre is awaiting China’s response to the proposal to reopen trans-border roads between Ladakh and Tibet, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Minister Dilawar Mir informed the assembly on Friday.
Replying to a question by P Namgyal during Question Hour, Mir said the Centre had informed the state government that the issue had been taken up with the Chinese and a response was awaited.
Mir said “correspondence” was taking place in the matter between the state and the Centre, he said.
He said that opening of the Sino-Indian road would give a boost to tourism, trade and pilgrmage.
In reply to a question by Ali Mohmmad Sofi, Mir said the Tourism Department had initiated formulation of transparent reservation cum cancellation policy by the local hotels and houseboat owners so that tourists are not put to any inconvenience.
The enforcement wing will also play a more pro-active role to ensure that no tourist visiting Kashmir in cheated, he said.
