Mumbai, Jan 19 : In a unique protest to free Tibet from China, an activist has sent a letter to President A P J Abdul Kalam written with his own blood.
Mahesh Yadav, convener of Mahatma Gandhi Free Tibet Movement, said he has been holding a ‘Free Tibet’ campaign in 59 cities across the country.
“From December 10, we have started a programme in 59 cities of India for its security and the independence of Tibet,” he said.
A number of posters scribbled in blood were displayed at the protest venue.
Yadav has been sketching portraits of global leaders like the Nobel laureate and Buddhist spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, former US President Bill Clinton and others in blood to show his support for Tibetans living in exile.
Tibet became an “autonomous region” of the People’s Republic in 1965. India officially recognised it as part of China in 2003, but continues to provide asylum to tens of thousands of Tibetans.
The Tibetan Government-in-exile, headed by the Dalai Lama, is based in Dharamsala.
