Dalai Lama lauds State Bank of Mysore

MADIKERI: State Bank of Mysore branch, Bylukuppe has achieved remarkable growth. The branch was opened in the Tibetan refugee camp 11 years back.

In 1995, the branch collected 3.29 crore deposit and disbursed loans worth Rs 11 lakh. During 2006-07, the bank collected a deposit of Rs 27.23 crore and disbursed loans amounting to Rs 9.16 crore and availed a profit of Rs 36.66 lakh.

These details were provided by Deputy general manager of the bank, B S Murthy who met Dalai Lama in Bylukuppe. He assured that the State Bank of Mysore will sponsor the World Conference on Peace and Religion to be held in Bylukuppe.

Deputy general manager B S Murthy said that at present more than 5,500 Tibetans are customers of the bank.

On the occasion, the assistant general manager of the bank, B K Shivaram said that the Bank has opened branches in five Tibetan refugee camps in Karnataka.

Among them, Bylukuppe branch stood first in terms of business volume. On the occasion, Dalai Lama appreciated the service of the State Bank of Mysore to the Tibetans in Bylukuppe.
