Campaign to free Tibet: Writing letter to PM in blood

Mangalore Jan 9: Adding one more step to the Free Tibet Movement, which has been gaining faster strides in the recent days, Dr Mahesh Yadav, the Convener of Mahatma Gandhi Free Tibet Movement, held his unique campaign in City on Monday, by scripting a letter to the Prime Minister by using his blood.

With a plan to hold his campaign in 59 cities across India, Dr Yadav, basically an ayurvedic medical practitioner based in Bhopal, touring throughout the country since December 10, 2006, and has already conducted his campaign in 19 cities of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka.

Engaged in the movement for the past 10 years to free Tibet from the “oppressed clutch of communist China”, he has been carrying out various activities like drawing portraits of certain world leaders with his blood “to signify the gravity of his unconditional support and sacrifice for Tibetan issue” and sending blood scripted letters to world leaders.

“I believe in the non-violent method of fighting for justice propagated by Mahatma Gandhiji, who taught the lesson of satyagraha,” he told reporters and added that for him to save Tibet is to save India, thus to save Asia and humanity.

In the letter addressed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Dr Mahesh Yadav appealed the Indian government to pressurise China to enter into earnest negotiation with the Tibetan government in exile, and also to restart the Sino-Indian relations, apart from inviting Dalai Lama to the Parliament to settle the Tibetan issues peacefully.

Tibetan Students Association (Mangalore) President Tsewang Rigzin was present on the occasion.
