Visits of Chinese leaders in India or for that matter elsewhere, provides occasion for the Tibetans to demonstrate their anger and abhorrence towards China and their leaders. More importantly, it also provides major opportunity to campaigns to shame and expose their evil deeds to the world.
As always, this week, during the visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao to India, Tibetan Youth Congress launched various anti-Hu campaigns all over India through its regional chapters. The Central Executive Committee in particular, spearheaded a series of campaigns condemning Hu’s visit beginning from the 18th of this month. The multi-dimensional campaign included a Three day demonstration cum rally in Delhi organized jointly with 5 other Tibetan NGOs namely Gu Chu Sum, Tibetan Womens Organization, National Democratic Party of Tibet, Students for a Free Tibet and FOT (India). The joint rally participated by over 700 Tibetans from various Tibetan settlements including Dharamshala, Dekyiling, Patlikuhl and Manali, and Bir etc, successfully concluded on the 21st of this month.
Similarly a secret and a direct action protest campaign against the visiting Chinese leader was also launched successfully in Delhi from the 20th of November until his departure from the city on the 22nd evening. The campaign that includesd storming meeting venues, Hu’s residence, blocking Hu’s cavalcades, press interviews and pamphleteering etc was participated by over 80 TYC activists from Delhi, Chandigarh and Herbertpur etc. At present they are all locked up in the dreaded Tihar Jail of Delhi.
Protest campaigns were also carried out in the Agra city at the Maurya Sheraton Hotel and the airport road to denounce Hu in the face. After the successful campaign, the activists were later put behind bar and booked. At present the activists still remain behind bars. Fierce campaigns to protest Hu Jintao and China in the last two days in Mumbai force-signals the ever-growing frustration and the desperation amongst the youths of today. As of now, over 40 young TYC activists are locked up in various police stations of Mumbai.
This evening, the weeklong TYC relay Hunger Strike concluded at the Jantar Mantar with a Candle Light Vigil and a brief ceremony attended by Tibetan Parliamentarian, Mrs. Youdon Aukatsang, FOT (India) members, members of Tibetan welfare Associations, RTWA, RTYC of Samyeling, RTYC Youth Hostel and the TYC Centrex members. The conclusion ceremony was also attended by the young students from Youth Hostel, and the resident of Samyeling and Noida Tibetan sweater sellers. After a candle light vigil cum March and a prayer recitation, a brief mourning was conducted for the Tibetan martyrs. Later Vice President Mr. Lobsang Yeshi gave a brief speech summarizing the weeklong TYC campaign against Hu and urged the participants for more intensified campaign in future. Mr. Rinchen Phuntsok, the Pradhan of Samyeling also spoke on the TYC campaign and the dedication and the courage demonstrated by the young activists. This was followed by a vote of thanks by Mr. Tsultrim Dorjee, the General Secretary.
Earlier in the afternoon, a memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister of India, UN Secretary General of UN and the Chinese President Hu Jintao through Chinese Embassy, New Delhi. The Relay Hunger Strike that concluded this evening was participated by over 1000 Tibetans from Noida, Faridabad, Vikaspuri, Lal Kila, Budh Vihar and Samyeling Tibetan Settlement.
The present weeklong ‘Anti-Hu’ campaign launched by TYC all over India has received massive media coverage besides disrupting Hu’s schedules etc. The success of the campaign has also sent a clear message to the world and China in particular that nothing can bog down the Tibetan spirit for Freedom and that the desperation of the young Tibetans has come to a saturation point. Sooner the word heeds and acts for Tibet, the better for all.
Following Memorandum was submitted to Hu Jintao.
23 November 2006
To,
Mr. Hu Jintao,
President,
Peoples Republic of China,
Subject: Memorandum
You Excellency,
Since the forceful occupation of our Independent country Tibet by the Communist party of China through its so-called People’s Liberation Army, Tibetans have been constantly rejecting the brutal Chinese occupation through incessant protest demonstrations inside and outside Tibet.
The brutal killings of over 1.3 million Tibetans, near total destruction of Tibetan traditional monasteries, environment and Tibetan way of life etc. and the ongoing oppression, discrimination, sinicisation against Tibetans inside Tibet etc. has failed to unnerve the Tibetan spirit for a FREE TIBET. The random and unaccounted killings spearheaded by CCP inside Tibet; the recent examples witnessed by the world being the ruthless killings at Nangpa la pass would only strengthen our resolve to fight for our country. No doubt, pro-Tibet campaigns and actions in Tibet continue to threaten China in spite of severe consequences in the form of long-term imprisonment, torture and deaths for the activists.
Outside Tibet, throughout the world, wherever your leaders travel, we the Tibetans have never spared any opportunity to protest the illegal occupation of our country and voice the true aspiration of the Tibetans. So, during your hyped visit to India this week, we the Tibetans especially Tibetan Youth Congress launched a series of protest demonstrations and actions denouncing your and your country and successfully exposed to the world the true nature of CCP and the evils unleashed by it across China and its neighboring countries. By now, we believe, you and your evil comrades might have gotten the message that Tibetans won’t be bogged down in their just struggle to unshackle the occupation of Tibet by your country.
Today, despite your vigorous attempts to white-wash the evil records inside China and Tibet and hide the deplorable human rights situation inside Tibet, China has been continuously indicted as the world’s most repressive and autocratic regime lacking freedom, democracy and rule of law. Your aspiration to emerge as another imperialistic nation instead of fulfilling the welfare and interest of the people had resulted in the large-scale anti-government demonstrations, massive resignation of CCP members, huge poverty, instability and chaos throughout China. It could only be an unimaginable miracle that the regime responsible for the genocide of over 75 million people remains unaccounted for and not booked in the international court of justice. And to this end and for the compete restoration of the freedom of Tibet, we will fight till death.
We once again strongly condemn your visit to India and believe that such repeated farce will not succeed in its evil missions across world.
FREE TIBET, WE WILL FREE TIBET
Sincerely,
Lobsang Yeshi (Mr.)
Vice President
Tibetan Youth Congress
Central Executive Committee
