All India Relay Hunger strike concluded successfully

The sixth and the last day of All India relay hunger strike led by Tibetan Youth Congress in protest of Hu’s visit to India concluded with solidarity candle light procession here at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. The determined Tibetan hunger strikers, though some as old as 70 years were so commited and in high spirit to condemn Hu Jintao’s visit to state.

Elderly Tibetan men and women as well as youngsters recited prayers under the tent festooned with prayer flags, placards, banners and posters for anti-Hu and Free Tibet all these days spreading the word of truth and justice.

Hundreds of Tibetans living in exile in India have been demonstrating in New Delhi and other cities across the country against Hu Jintao’s visit and China’s illegal occupation of Tibet in general. Around 73 Tibetan activists have been taken into custody by the Indian police here in New Delhi who tried to breach security and reach Hu. There are many more in the list at Agra and Mumbai police station.

Mr. Makino, a former member of the Japanese parliament and president of the Japanese Parliamentary Group for Tibet visited the place day before yesterday and said, ‘It is so good to see Tibetans selflessly working towards their freedom struggle and our support will be always there with you all”.

Later a minute-long mourning in memory of brave Tibetan martyrs was observed.

The General Secretary of the Tibetan Youth Congress, Mr. Tsultrim Dorjee, gave away the word of thanks to everybody who made this massive event a grand success and hopes that everyone continues to support this kind of events in future.

Signaling the united call for integrity, the all India relay hunger strike finally concluded with prayers and a hope for free Tibet. “But this is not the end, it is the beginning of our journey to succeed and see our triumph soon” feels Lobsang Yeshi, vice-president of Tibetan Youth Congress.
