Tibetan activist seeks appointment with Chinese President

Shimla, Nov 15: Tibetan poet-activist, Tenzing Tsundue, infamous for his unique ways of protesting against China, has sought an appointment with Chinese President Hu Jintao during his forthcoming visit to India and has sent a formal request to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in this regard.

Tenzing, who had been directed by the Kangra police not (not) leave the territorial jurisdiction of Dharamsala till November 24 in view of Hu’s visit, said that he had sent his request to the Prime Minister through Superintendent of Police, Kangra, and also by post and was awaiting reply.

He confirmed that police had written to him not (not) leave Dharamsala saying that in view of past experience police apprehended trouble if he was allowed to go out. He said that he had protested against the police order and written to Prime Minister in this regard.

Tsundue had caught attention of world media when he unfurled the Tibetan flag and ‘free tibet’ banner on the 14th floor of Oberoi Towers in Mumbai during the visit of the then Chinese Premier Zu Rongji, who was addressing a business conference at that time.
