First meeting with the president of the Foreign Commission of the Chamber of Deputies.
Mariacristina Spinosa e Giampiero Leo, coordinators of the Association of Municipalities, Provinces and Regions for Tibet, met in Rome with Umberto Ranieri, President of the Foreign Commission of the Chamber of Deputies.
The object of the meeting was the request for condemnation of Nangpa La massacre and the actions to undertake, even in the European Community, to support the rights of Tibetan people.
“We asked the Commission” Leo and Spinosa say “for put pressure on the Italian Government to communicate to the Chinese Government the agenda just approved by the Parliament and vouch for its realization. Then it was asked for making every effort, even by C.I.O., to have the Chart of Human Rights, approved by TOROC for Turin 2006, respected in Peking during the Olympic Games 2008. Furthermore, it was asked a commitment by Italy, as member of the Security Council of U.N., “ to use every pressure to reach a new start of the negotiations China – Tibetan Government in Exile, under the aegis (protection) of U.N.
The President of Foreign Commission, expressing a full agreement with the proposed aims, declared his willingness to every kind of collaboration and his appreciation for the activities of the Association, led by the Piedmont, in an institutional and bipartisan framework.
The leaders of the Association, that counts now 130 members, Municipalities, Regions and other local administrations, will meet in the next weeks with the Foreign Commission of the European Parliament in Brussels.
