Paris: The Maison du Tibet under the supervision of the Office of Tibet, Paris, has been organizing a festival of Tibetan culture called the Himalayan Festival every year in Paris at this time.
The two-day 7th Himalayan Festival will open at Kargyu Dzong on 23 September morning by the monks from Yeunten Ling Tibetan Institute, Belgium. The monks will bless the day by reciting a special prayer followed by a ritual monastic dance. Some events of the day are Tibetan dances and music by the richly costumed artists of the Belgium Tibetan Community Troupe, chanting and recitation of Tibets great yogi Milaepas chants and performances of the Indian legendary dance, Bharata Natyam.
Late in the evening, a concert by Lama Gyourme and Jean-Philippe-Rykiel, the well known French musician but blind, and they will be joined by Tibetan artists– Tenzin Gonpo, Yangdu Tso and Namgyal Lhamo.
The second day of the festival will commence with lions dance by the artists of the Tibetan community in France, which will be followed by a talk on traditional Tibetan medical system by Dr Tenzin Kyipa, resident physician at the Men-Tsee- Khang Branch Institute in Holland, a talk by Venerable Dagpo Rinpoche on the essence of Tibetan Buddhism in modern world and construction of a sand Mandala.
The 7th Festival will conclude with the dissolution of the Mandala symbolizing the impermanence of our life and everything else in the world.
