Chennai August 24 – Four young Tibetans in their first attempt showcase their art composition in south Indian city Chennai completed their five day exhibition today.
Supported by Tibet lover Mrs Aasha Reddy, who the Tibetan students in Chennai call Aunty Aasha, the four young Tibetan painters from Dharamsala put up 30 paintings on exhibition.
The painters Tenzin Jamyang, Tenzin namgyal, Gonpo tsering anfare so excited as even before their show began, 15 paintings were sol before hand, as Chennai art lovers got to see their art pieces on CD that was going around as previews.
The exhibition was organized at Lakshana Art gallery in Mylapore in Tamil Nadu’s capital Chennai. Friends Aasha Reddy, who were also friends of Tibet, supported the art exhibition whole hearted by contributing in many different ways, printing advertisement posters, and sponsoring refreshments at the gallery etc.
For Tenzin Jamyang this is his second such exhibition after last year’s exhibition in Delhi. His paintings are mostly reflective sceneries done in oil. While Tenam’s is modern art, Gonpo’s is miniature paintings of plants suggestive of traditional Tibetan medicinal herbs painting style. The fourh painter Migmar paints day today lives of Tibetan refugees.
Noted Indian painter, a Padmashri Award winner Thata Tharani personally came to see the paintings and interacted with the Tibetans painters. Local people and the media took great interest of their exhibition.
