Tibetan Freedom March enters Second Day

The “March for Tibet’s Independenceā€, organised by the International Tibet Independence Movement (ITIM) entered its second day with a presentation on the purpose of the march and the Tibet issue at a high school and Unitarian Universalist Church. The 115-mile long walk will take the 40 Tibetans and their supporters from Charlottesville (Virginia) to Washington and raise awareness on the illegal occupation of Tibet by China and alert the public on the continued human rights abuses as well as express solidarity to the victims of the Tianenmenn Square massacre. Many elderly Tibetans are taking part in the march.

Tibetans not only from Charlottesville but also from far away Hawaii and Vermont also walked to show their support. individuals almost all Tibetans walked. Thousands of cars were exposed to the walk messages and many showed their support by honking their horns. A number of the Tibetans were elderly. Over 5 miles were covered on the first day of the march and is expected to conclude on June 11 in Washington.
