Dharamshala – Research and policy unit of the Finance Department of the Central Tibetan Administration is planning to organise a one-month entrepreneurship awareness campaign in various Tibetan settlements in South India.
As a part of this plan, Sonam Dorjee, head of the Research and Policy unit, and Choesang Tendar, spokesperson of the Finance Department, will visit five Tibetan settlements in May 2006 starting from Hunsur in Karnataka state.
In each settlement, they will organise a 3-day programme. On the first day, they intent to explain the objectives of the unit and its support services to create awareness on importance of entrepreneurship and business opportunities, and various favourable schemes for starting a tiny and small-scale business in their district.
On the second day, they will be organising a focused group meeting to learn more about the alternative interests and aspiration of our people.
“We are hoping that this close interaction with our people will give us more ideas about their problems and areas we should work on”, said Choesang Tendar.
The third day of the programme is for consultation services to those who want to start new ventures.
When they are finished with the South Indian Tibetan settlements they will visit Dickyling, Ponta Sahib and Puruwala Tibetan settlements in northern India.
