Switzerland & Liechtenstein Tibetan Communities Hold Panel Discussion

The Tibetan Community of Switzerland & Liechtenstein (TCSL) witnessed an open “Panel Discussion” on 12 February 2006. The forum was participated by the four candidates for the forthcoming assembly polls (14th ATPD). They are Mr. Jampa Tsering Samdho (former Chairman of TCSL), Mr. Ngawang Gyaltsen Gangshongtsang (former member of ATPD), Mr. Sonam Tsering Frasi (serving as the member of 13th ATPD), Mr. Sonam Phuntsog Moenkher (an ex-government official of the Central Tibetan Administration). A four men preparatory committee comprising of Sangling Tsering Dorjee, Thupten Nyamtsur, Kunchok Thaktsang, Sherab Karutsang (elected by the representatives of the TCSL) chaired the panel discussion.

Around 200 Tibetans from Tibetan communities in Switzerland and Liechtenstein attended the gathering. An active exchange of views and opinions was witnessed with the audience asking questions on topics ranging from member of ATPD in European countries, Middle way approach, the Exile Tibetan Cabinet – KASHAG, Education & Finance, electoral system, mixed-marriages & Preservation of Cultural Identity in Europe.

All four Candidates showed full confidence in the presently serving Kalon Tripa, Prof. SAMDHONG Rinpoche and wished a second term. The committee head Chitue Mr. Sangling Tsering Dorjee and the TCSL chairman Lobsang Gangshontsang thanked the panel for their time and energy.

The Local Election Commission & Tibet Office in Geneva was represented by Mr. Bhugyal.
