Tibetan Minister Honours Indian Children on Human Rights Day

Coinciding with the 57th International Human Right day, Antarashtrya Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Samiti headed by Shri Kulbhushan Bakshi, who is also the National Co-Convener of the Core Group for Tibetan Cause, organised a ceremony at Shri Sanatan Dhram Inter College at Meerut to honour the students who had won prizes in a Tibet related Quiz, Essay and Painting Competition held earlier this year.

More than 200 people comprising of school Principals, teachers, Prize winning students, Tibetan sweater sellers and local eminent persons attended the function.

Kalon Thupten Lungrik, Minister of Education and Health, Central Tibetan Administration was the Chief Guest of the function. Other eminent speakers included Dr. N.K. Trikha, National Convener of Core Group for Tibetan Cause, Dr. K.C. Gupta, Professor of Political Science at Meerut College and Shri Nitianand Sharma.

The ceremony started with a welcome song by the students followed by Indian and Tibetan National Anthem. Shri Kulbhushan Bakshi spoke about the importance of the day (International Human Rights day) while welcoming all participants. “Being an old man I am not able to do much for Tibetan cause except lending a helping hand to the Tibetan sweater sellers at Meerut. But from last year onwards we have started organising Tibet related programmes such as Quizzes, Debates, essay and painting competitions focusing young Indian students.”

Kalon Thupten Lungrik in his speech expressed his gratitude towards all Indians for their support towards Tibetan Cause. “India is a powerful country, which just needs to realize its potential in giving a leadership to the Asian sub-continent,” said Mr. Thupten Lungrik. Later Kalon Thupten Lungrik gave away trophies and certificates to the winners.

“In spite of numerous NGOs working for human and animal Rights, Chinese still continue to violate the human rights of Tibetans in Tibet”, said Dr K.C Gupta. Dr Trikha spoke in length about the human rights violation in Tibet and assured that India will continue its support for the Tibetan cause.

India Tibet Coordination distributed its Tibet related literatures amongst the audience.
