The fourth night of Tibetan Music festival USA- 2005 on 19th of November, Sunday at New York, was another great concert. New York is believed to have the largest Tibetan community in the United States. According to the organisers the approximate crowd attending the show was almost 1000, even though they expected a much bigger crowd but the numbers reaching three digits was it self exhilarating. Says Phurbu T. Namgyal, one of the leading singers in the concert. “It was amazing! At first I was kind of worried about the crowd, since there was some party going on in the city. But then, much of the people showed up for the concert. It’s probably one of the best nights of this one month long tour.”
After their last concert at Salt Lake City, the group traversed the breadth of USA through road, from the west coast to east coast. It was no doubt a very tiring journey for them. On asking about their experience, Lo-Tsetan, one of the main celebrities of the festival says, “It was fun! I think I am very lucky to have such a wonderful tour. We traveled from Utah to New York by road and it was like a paradise. I didn’t know that singing would be this much fun. I would recommend everyone to become a singer.”
Tenzin Woser, the famous Tsam-Tsam guy was one of the main attractions of the night at NYC. And then, many other host singers made the night even more entertaining. Tibetan Music is now becoming more popular. According to the organisers there would be another festival during the Kalachakra in early January and they are expecting it to be biggest ever music concert in the history of Exile Tibetans. “We are almost confirmed about the Tibetan Music Festival Kalachakra- 2006 and it’s going to be the biggest of all the Music festivals we organised so far. We will soon be releasing the announcement when we will be confirmed entirely.” said Mr. Gonpo Gyaltsen, the founder and the director of GONPO ENTERTAINMENT.
The on-going Tibetan Music Festival USA- 2005 started from 5th of November at University of San Francisco, California and so far, they have finished four concerts. Now, there next night is at Brandies University, BOSTON on the very next day (20th of November). They are coming to Chicago, Madison, and Los Angeles and hopefully to Toronto (Canada). But their next biggest night would be no doubt at Minnesota where some 2500 Tibetan people live.
