THE Dalai Lama is set to take part in a debate about ethics when he visits the Capital next month.

It will be the second time that the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists has come to Scotland, following a visit 18 months ago.

He will take part in a conversation on Ethics for the New Millennium with Professor Sheila MacLean of Glasgow University at the Usher Hall on Saturday, November 19.

The event will be chaired by former bishop of Edinburgh Richard Holloway.

Prior to the discussion the audience will have the opportunity to view large projected photographs from His Holiness’ 2004 visit, organisers are also planning one other special contribution.

Lord Provost Lesley Hinds will welcome His Holiness back to Edinburgh when he arrives from the US for his two-day visit, organised by the Edinburgh Inter-Faith Association.

Cllr Hinds said: “His Holiness has worked tirelessly for decades to promote peace and is a role model for many people.”
