Tibetan Youth Congress pays its deepest respect and prayers on the glorious 70th Birth Anniversary of His Holiness The Dalai Lama and beseech that Your Lotus Feet may continue to remain for hundred of aeons, to lead us to the path of enlightenment and freedom.
As the world celebrates the 70th Birth Anniversary of His Holiness The Dalai Lama of Tibet, Tibetan Youth Congress, the largest exile discipline of Tibetan freedom struggle re-dedicates itself to the glorious, unquestioned and indispensable leadership of His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso.
As a humble symbol of our heartfelt gratitude to His benign leadership, Tibetan Youth Congress is taking out a mixed album of Tibetan songs and instrumental music titled ‘Gem from the Ocean’s Deep’, consisting of some of the immortal poems of the Sixth Dalai Lama and new compositions as a special dedication of ‘Thanks Giving’ to H.H. The Dalai Lama on the auspicious occasion of His 70th birthday. This album will be released today simultaneously at all the 78 regional chapters of the Tibetan Youth Congress worldwide and will be distributed free of charge.
Perhaps never a human person walks the earth that touches the souls, kindles the spirits and influences the thoughts of so many people across all the barriers of race, colour, creed, and ideology with a genuine smile and a simple message of peace and happiness as His Holiness does.
Passing through the most difficult era of its 2500 year long history, the basic question of Tibet’s survival would have invariably been answered adversely if it was not for the benign leadership of His Holiness. Abruptly awoken from its deep slumber of apolitics and neglected sovereignty, Tibet was a nation ailing of strong leadership and lacking of political wisdom as well as diplomatic connections when the young Dalai Lama took over the reigns of Tibet. Under His Holiness, Tibet, as an entity of people made the finest as well as the swiftest transformation in mankind’s history, from a lost front at home to freedom in exile, to modernization, and most importantly to democracy.
The identity, of being accepted as a Tibetan is the greatest achievement as well as the most precious gift that His Holiness has bestowed and won for us, a gift that no one can steal from us, a gift that is the uppermost responsibility of every Tibetan to cherish, preserve and pass down to future generations.
TYC has, since its inception endeavoured to cherish and preserve this sacred gift of identity in its highest and most pristine form – a completely free and independent Tibet. In the concerted assertion for a free Tibet, TYC is not only giving voice to the ultimate aspiration of the Tibetan people but in the true sense, striving to preserves this gift of identity that His Holiness has bestowed on us. Young at seventy, the dynamism of His leadership, the charisma of His personality, and the vibrancy of His presence continues to grow and win the hearts of millions of people around the globe.
On this auspicious occasion, when Tibetans the world over and the faithful followers and admiring supporters of the Tibetan cause are joyously observing a year-long celebration of the Dalai Lama’s Birthday, the most precious gesture of ‘Thanksgiving’ to His Holiness would definitely be the realization and observance of our responsibilities and duties towards our lost Fatherland – realization that we in exile are the only hope of our brethren left behind in Tibet, realization that their only desperate wish is to be relieved of the resented Chinese yoke, realization that we are stateless refugees, realization that we should live up to the standard expected of us by His Holiness who has dedicated His whole life for Tibet and its suffering people, realization that democracy is His most cherished gift and above all, the realization that Tibet expects our foremost sacrifice for the rightful restoration of its independence.
Let us all commit ourselves totally to Tibet and His Holiness The Dalai Lama which are synonymous, that we shall make His Presence tangibly felt in Tibet by enthroning Him in the Potala palace in the free atmosphere of complete independence.
