Lone Walker Calls China to Enter into Dialogue

Christer Cederlöf walked 750 kilometres (about 200 kilometres more than the distance between Dharamshala and Delhi) in display of solidarity with the Tibetan people. He seeks to draw the world’s attention towards the Tibetan cause and the efforts of His Holiness the Dalai Lama who is trying to keep the issue alive. In his own words, Cederlöf calls for an impartial mediator in the negotiations between the Chinese Government and the Tibetan Government in Exile.

The walk that took almost a month started from Stockholm on 12 May to reach Gothenburg where His Holiness just visited. “I contacted local newspapers and radio stations on the way and found that they showed great interest in this small initiatve of mine”. He told phayul that the people he met on his way showed great empathy for the situation of the Tibetan people and supported the Tibetan exile Government in its efforts to resolve the conflict with the Chinese Government through dialogue.

Cederlöf conves his thanks to everyone for the appreciation and support before and during the walk Hoping that the world community will take the Tibetan People’s situation seriously, he said that all democracies in the world should put Tibet issue on their agenda and finally end the suffering of the Tibetan People.
