– As a part of the Tibetan government’s initiative to celebrate the year as a national expression of gratitude to His holiness the Dalai Lama for his leadership, the Department of Education of the exile Tibetan government holds a seminar on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s life which was participated by 30 students from 15 Tibetan schools in India and Nepal. The two students each from the schools are to speak on various topics pertaining to His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s life since his birth.

Mr. Pema Jungney, the Chairman of the Assembly of the Tibetan People’s Deputies, was the chief guest on the occasion. The seminar held at the auditorium of the Tibetan Children’s Village school here was attended by Chief Justice Commissioner Namgyal Tsering, Justice Commissioner Thupten Tashi Anyertsang, Vice Chairperson of the ATPD Ms. Gyari Dolma, Kalon Lobsang Nyima, Kalon Thupten Lungrik, heads of the autonomous bodies of the Tibetan government, officials of the Tibetan government and representatives of non governmental organisations and institutes.

Mr. Pema Jungney appreciated the students for their participation saying that the seminar is a very good way of educating the future generations about the sacrifices made by His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the Tibetan people.

The seminar is very uniquely different from the usual such gathering of students from various schools for the fact that the 15 schools are not competing with each other, as the organisers decided that there will be no contest among them. This is in total compliance with the 12th Kashag’s education policy.

Kalon Thupten Lungrik will present scarves and souvenirs to the participating students.
