UNHCR Asia-Pacific Director visits TRC Katmandu

Kathmandu December 1 – The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Asia-Pacific region Director Mrs Janeth Lim is currently on a visit to Nepal. She has visited the Bhutanese refugee camps in western Nepal and today she paid a visit to the Tibetan reception centre in Nepal, and met with over thousand newly-arrived Tibetans waiting for transit to India where their spiritual and temporal leader the Dalai Lama resides. The UNHCR Asia-Pacific director checked the condition of the Tibetan reception centre and assured continued support to the newly-arriving Tibetans as before. The United Nations representative to Nepal Mr Abraham Abraham was also present along with other UNHCR staffs.

This is the first time that a UNHCR Asia-Pacific director has paid a visit to the Tibetan reception center(Nepal).
