TYC demands Apple investigate charges of discriminative hiring policies against Tibetans in Chinese factories
Tibetan Youth Congress, the largest pro-independence group in exile, has expressed outrage at accusations of discriminative hiring policies against Tibetans adopted by Chinese factories supplying products for Apple. TYC said it was “deeply concerned” at the reports of labour rights violations and urged the California based Apple Inc. to “seriously investigate” the accusations.
China detains, expels visiting Tibetan for carrying the Dalai Lama’s photos
An exiled Tibetan visiting his family in Tibet was recently detained and later expelled from Tibet by Chinese officials after he was found in possession of pictures of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. According to information received by Phayul, the Tibetan man was carryig all required permission from Chinese authorities to travel to Tibet.
Another Tibetan political prisoner released in poor health
Chinese authorities have released a Tibetan political prisoner in poor health after having served his full 18 months prison term in eastern Tibet. Sonam Rinchen, who was released on July 24, is being described in a poor health condition and is also carrying injuries. He was arrested on February 12 last year in Drango region of Kham
