The revered Buddhist leader and winner of the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize gave a short teaching from the Jataka tales in the morning. Later in the afternoon, the Dalai Lama attended a Hindu prayer session offering long life to him at Chamunda temple near Dharamsala. Organized by Indian religious associations, the prayers were a tribute to the Dalai Lama as Tibetan exiles observe 50th Anniversary of their uprising against Chinese rule.
