WA ‘can’t ignore human rights in China’

West Australian Premier Alan Carpenter should have the courage to raise human rights issues with China’s president when he visits the state, an exiled Tibetan leader in WA says.

Tsewang Rinzin of Portland, USA was elected the new President of the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC), the largest Tibetan non-governmental organisation in exile, here at the concluding day of the 13th General Body Meeting (GBM).

His Holiness’ Teaching

His Holiness the Dalai Lama walks His way to give teachings at the main temple in Dharamsala on September 3, 2007. The three-day teachings are on Nagarjuna’s Commentary on Boddhicitta (jangchup semdrel) along with Kamalashila’s “The Middling Stages of Meditation (gomrim barpa). His Holiness will also confer the Chenresig Initiation on September 5. This teaching is mainly for people from South-East Asia at the request of the Tibetan Buddhist Society, Singapore. Over 1500 Buddhists from Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, including some 700 Westerners are attending the teaching. “To promote human values and religious harmony are my main commitments” His Holiness told the gathering here today.
