The tracks for a railroad being built to Tibet recently reached the northern bank of the Tuotuohe River, the headstream of the Yangtze River, about 310 miles from the terminus in Lhasa.

His Holiness Visits Chauntra

His Holiness the Dalai Lama left Dharamsala this morning on a three-day visit to Chauntra Tibetan settlement in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. After receiving a long life prayer offering, His Holiness will inaugurate the newly built Dzongsar Shedra monastery today.

MEPs Oppose Lifting the EU’s China Arms Embargo

The European Parliament has voted strongly in favour of the EU retaining its 15-year ban on arms sales to China. In session in Strasbourg, the Parliamentarians voted 572 against lifting the embargo while 72 MEPs voted in favour of the lifting.
