Dalai Lama turns 69

The Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of the Tibetans, turned 69 Tuesday amidst reports that China was hardening its stance on his demand for internal self-rule in Tibet and was even looking for his reincarnation to succeed him.

China urged to look after its heritage

UNESCO has urged China to take more care of Beijing’s Forbidden City and Tibet’s Potala Palace and says it plans to re-examine whether they should be put on a danger list.
