China agrees to trade through Sikkim

In an implicit recognition of Sikkim being part of the Indian territory, China on Monday agreed to trade through the northeastern state and India has decided to recognise the Tibetan autonomous region as part of the territory of the People’s Republic of China.

Dalai Lama in Kargil, to address public meetings

The Dalai Lama is now in Kargil as part of his three-week visit to Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier on June 12, he arrived in Buddhist-dominated Ladakh region where a large number of Tibetans living in exile gave him an warm welcome.
